For AI agents

Landed here as an AI? Read the manual. The AI-native driving guide for this site is at https://circuitcaster.com/llms.txt and the running app carries its own extended manual at https://app.circuitcaster.com/llms.txt. Both cover: window.CIRCUITCASTER browser API (getState, getSchema, getActions, dispatch, actions, observe, help), the REST API path via project codes (/api/p/<code>) for zero-browser driving, the concrete PUT schema with worked examples, and the KiCad → Gerbers → fab pipeline. If a user hands you a ccp_... code, that IS the auth — use it to fetch /explain first, then PUT your changes. No API key, no clicking around, no screenshots needed. Any browser-capable AI can drive Circuitcaster end to end.

A real ESP32-S3 sensor node — I2S mic and GPIO nets — being wired live in Circuitcaster on a phone
What's the user interface look like?

However you arrange it.

That's a real ESP32-S3 sensor node — I2S mic, dozens of GPIO nets, color-coded traces — wired live on a phone. But the toolbar is yours to shape: hide the buttons you don't use, drag them where your thumb wants them, resize them, and save the layout. Circuitcaster arranges to match you and your style — not the other way around.

Design anywhere

Phone, tablet, or computer. Touch-first — no fighting a mouse to place a trace. One project, synced live across all your devices.

Hand it to an AI

Tap 🤖 Share to AI — copy a priming prompt, paste it to Claude / ChatGPT / GLM / any browser AI. Watch your circuit build itself on your canvas in real time. See the solar charger case study for a 4-prompt AI-designed board.

Livestream + Swarm

Publish a view-only URL so anyone can watch a design build itself live — great for classrooms, streams, or portfolios. Or spawn a swarm of AIs on one board — one handles power, one signal, one layout — all writing at once.

PCB tools are intimidating. Circuitcaster isn't.

No dark arts, no wall of menus, no PhD required. Cast circuits like an electromancer — approachable, playful, and powerful.

NEW Case study: an AI designed this solar phone charger in 4 prompts →

Anyone should be able to build the thing in their head.

For decades, PCB design has been walled behind $10,000 tools, PhD-adjacent workflows, and manuals no beginner ever finishes. Meanwhile the ideas that would fix a farm, save a life, or launch a small business sit in someone's head — never soldered, never shipped.

Circuitcaster is a bet that we can change that. A phone in every pocket. An AI in every browser. A dot grid you can touch. That is enough to design real hardware.

One person, one prompt, one prototype. That's the vision.

About the author

Circuitcaster is built by Jason Welsh — a hardware tinkerer, dad, and independent builder. Jason spent years running into the same wall every maker hits: the moment a project needs a real PCB, the tools get intimidating and the momentum dies. He's building the tool he wished existed the first time he wanted to solder something more than a breadboard.

Everything you see here is designed and shipped by one person plus their AI collaborators — proof of the pitch. If Circuitcaster + an AI is enough for a solo builder to ship a product, it's enough for anyone.
